During the early days of the pandemic I settled in to read Grant’s memoir, then a scholarly bio by Jean Edward Smith, then "Grant and Twain" by Mark Perry, followed by a variety of other materials.
In my reading, I was struck by the depth and breadth of Grant’s personal relationships. This inspired me to create the above piece and the numbered key that unlocks the names of several hundred of the many people in his life and times.
